The backup motor is VERY helpful especially when the wind died. This boat was my introduction to the world of RC. So far 1 of my best R/C purchase. Hobby-Lobby may be more expensive than other online store out there, but the quality is outstanding and well worth the extra 10%. I give this product five stars.
